Ravelry BlogSpot FaceBook
Fiber Indie eXperience is a cooperative of independent artists who work together for the benefit of the whole by helping, encouraging, and promoting each other. We don’t see ourselves as “competitors in business” but as friends of a like mind with a passion for fiber. Each member has a small business in which they sell their fiber and fiber related handcrafted items concentrating on quality rather than quantity. When you shop with a F.I.X. member you can be sure of receiving a beautifully handcrafted item and all our members genuine appreciation for supporting a fellow co-op member.
According to the dictionary, ‘indie’ is an informal version of the word independent. Although this definition is accurate, the word has come to mean more. For many, it has come to symbolize originality and forward-thinking. By this definition, indie is any business or designer that is not associated with a large company.”

Yarndemon Designs
Yarndemon Designs....I am a graphic artist/manager by day & a crafter & fiber arts lover by night. It all started when my grandmother taught me to crochet about 15 years ago. 5 years later I taught myself to knit. Then I discovered stitch markers! So I started making little clay animals & such for knitting stitch markers. My shop has continued to grow as my fiber arts addiction has continued to grow. I’ve now learned to spin my own yarn, creating orifice hooks & WPI tools for that craft. And most recently purchased my first rigid heddle loom. Now I am getting ready to introduce handcrafted clay buttons to my store. I love my fiber arts, & I love the silly clay creations I come up with to go with them.

Fancy Kitty.....Born into a family of woodcraft men , I was helping my father and Grandfather (both well know furniture builders) in their shop as soon as I was tall enough to reach the tools. They were master craftsman, making the most beautiful furniture, mantle clocks, grandfather clocks, and may other items. I was always and still am, in awe of their talents and abilities. I have been working and turning wood for about 50 years and during that time I have sold pieces to Universities, galleries, and individuals in all fifty states and more than thirtysix countries around the world. I have continued the family woodcraft tradition and almost exclusively, build fiber working tools....drum carders and pickers. I try in my own humble way to continue to contribute to my families traditional art, creating my own wooden pieces.

Little Monkey's Stitch N Spin
Little Monkey’s Stitch n Spin........
I am a WAHM to two boys, and a huge fiber and fabric addict. When I’m not busy trying to keep them occupied or out of trouble, I like to relax with some crochet, sewing, or spinning. I love to spend time crafting and creating, as it is so satisfying to see a finished project develop into something beautiful. I offer handspun and hand dyed yarns, fiber, project bags, stitchmarkers, and more. Little Monkey’s Stitch n Spin is located in Southern Texas.

Customer Testamonials
The Spin Artiste interview is great. Most of you FIX CHIX that know me know how much I love all of you. When I first started spinning last year I hadn’t given much thought to where I would get my fiber. The only thing I came up with was e-bay. I did get a few nice things from e-bay and several not so nice and the I really hated hated the stress of bidding and hoping I had gotten the item.
Then in June or so I met Beth and joined her BMH group. BMH was the first fiber related group I joined here on Ravelry. I didn’t know there were groups for that. I was on several knitting groups but didn’t participate much because I didn’t like the tone of the discussions.
When FIX was started I had to join the group and I figured I would find a couple of things here and there that I would like. What I found was a home, great friends, and so many wonderful fiber products that some months I go a bit crazy on my purchases. When I need something now I go to the FIX shops first and then I ask the FIX CHIX. You are all always so helpful.
Keep up the great work and unequaled spirit of support you and I get here being a part of FIX.~~~Jan
As a customer, It is really nice to see shops actually working together to help each other out. I have lurked and participated in other groups that do supposedly “work together to promote indie business” but they are rather ruthless about telling you what is wrong with other peoples shops that are in their group or telling customers why the other shops products are not good quality ect. I do not have a big fiber budget and I feel like with the other groups that if I don’t purchase obscene amounts of product, I am not important enough for them to bother answering any questions about their products or explaining to me how the product was made ect. FIX is completely opposite, I have never felt like just a customer and my questions are always answered completely, no matter how small or silly they may be.Also, the FIX Co-op has introduced me to new wool types, new experiences with wool (carding, wool prep ect) and help me to generally expand my working knowledge of the fibery world. I feed comfortable purchasing from members of this coop because I know that the products are good quality and each shop is supported by fellow FIX CHIX. I know that when I need something, I always check here first to see if anyone of you offer what I am looking for before I buy elsewhere.~~~Shannon
